Did you know that following the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia, CISA has issued a further update urging all UK businesses and businesses around the world to bolster their cyber security defenses?

This new CISA report details how a joint advisory between the US, New Zealand, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK are together issuing a warning to all organisations. The warning comes as intel suggests Russia is exploring options for cyber-attacks on the west in response to the economic sanctions placed on the country. The message is clear: there’s never been a more urgent time than in 2022 to make sure your cyber security is tightened and enhanced.

Because of this, we’re going to talk about what services an IT Support Company can provide and why it’s never been more important for businesses to use one.

What Was the CISA Update?

The latest CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency) update was released on April 20, 2022. The lengthy report outlines how Russian state-sponsored and criminally aligned forces may disrupt critical infrastructure in response to the west’s economic sanctions on Russia.

The cybersecurity authorities of the anglosphere released this Cybersecurity Advisory (CSA) with the intent to warn organisations of the increased risk now imposed by Russia of malicious cyber activity. The joint advisory also details how evolving intelligence indicates that the Russian government is exploring its options to launch cyber warfare. They also say some cybercrime groups sympathetic to Russia have recently pledged support.

What can Better Cyber SecurityOffer?

Your business is critical. And in this day and age, so much of what we do for our business is managed electronically. From accounting to hiring to holding the most sensitive data. We need to know our IT systems are safe and secure.

Enhancing your cyber security at this most important time will bolster your defences against the increasing chances of malicious attacks. War has changed and as the west continues to put sanctions on Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, the state is more and more likely to retaliate. And this retaliation is almost certainly going to look like attacks on vulnerable and insufficiently protected networks.

Properly checking and tightening cyber security means making sure all your network connections are secure. It includes the most up-to-date premium antivirus and anti-malware software installed on all your systems. And it includes continuous backups of your most crucial data so that nothing is lost in case of an attack.

Do You Feel Protected?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a small or large business. Now more than ever, you need to be fully protected.

Testing and tightening your cyber security may prove a pivotal move to protect your business, infrastructure and data. Let’s run through some basic checks. See how you measure up right now:

  1. Do you have two-factor verification (2FV) turned on within all your systems?
  2. Do you have web and email filtering protection to protect yourself and your employees from clicking malicious links?
  3. Do your anti-virus and anti-malware have update notifications turned on so you know you’re staying up-to-date?
  4. Do you have an IT support company looking out for you and creating regular backups of all your critical data?
  5. And do you have cyber liability insurance in case the worst happens?
